SUPER BOWL XLV SUPER Price Gouging

SUPER BOWL XLV SUPER Price Gouging!

One of America's favorite past-times is to watch the coveted NFL play out the season ending Super Bowl. And one lucky city around the nation gets to hold the event. In this case, North Texas city of Arlington has that honor this year. This is also a popular venue to release outrageous commercials and vendors pays in the millions for mere seconds of air play.

As we North Texans get ready to host America's largest party, we have been instructed by TV commercials from Troy Aikman to show our guests our Texan hospitality. We the people are sure inclined to do so; however, some hotels are showing the rest of the nation that everything is bigger in Texas, especially hotel rates!

A small indication to this hotel rate hike, here is one example, the Days Inn in Arlington near Cowboys Stadium is charging $361 to $405 a night. $699 for a room at a Super 8 Motel on Super Bowl Sunday.

Also, let us not forget our beloved host, Jerry himself, charging over $200 to watch the Super Bowl in the parking lot on a big screen television. Also, Jerry has the NFL convinced to count those as tickets to achieve the record of most attendance of a Super Bowl.

So if you were to fly in for one night, pay $405 for the night and $200 for the parking lot room (not inside the stadium), you have spent $605 without the consideration of drinks or food or even transportation to and from the event. If you decide on a rental there will be a parking charge as well.
Parking can run you from $49.50 to $577.50, depending on how close they are to the stadium. Some parking lots are offering a flat rate plus a free shuttle to and from the game.

The gouging does not stop there, oh no sir, I have heard reports of price gouging on paraphernalia and other items that our Packer and Steeler fans would purchase for a mere 1000% price increase.
Slap a picture of the Stadium with Roman Numerals of XLV and slap a Packers or Steelers logo and you got some money!

Not only will the fans be paying for this so will the locals. The roads that have not been completed as of yet will be overly congested. I suggest not traveling the roads that weekend.
The traffic around the stadium is already a nightmare, adding a few hundred thousand more, just peachy. I guess if you are a taxi cab driver you will be doing well that day.

I have an idea, why not give me 50 bucks, a 6-pack of cold ones, and some chips. You can crash on my couch and watch the game in HD. No parking charges or any other hidden charges.

My two cents: Be weary of the parking situation, hotel situation, and any transportation charges that do not seem fair. Let us try to be fair to our visitors.

One Year in 2 minutes

One Year in 2 Minutes!

If you have a simple 2 minutes to spare this is a pretty cool video. They are of still shots shot every 30 minutes for a year. The music accompanying the video is pretty cool too. It shows from January to the end of the December.

Eirik Solheim has a fascinating video to show you. The Norwegian media professional has created a true video time-lapse from more than 3,500 high-resolution images that were shot from one location during all of 2010. You can view the video, titled "One year in 2 minutes" on his Vimeo page.

Solheim , a project manager with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, said he placed his old Canon 400D, a single-lens reflex camera with an EF-S 10-22 in his window in January of 2010. He then hooked the SLR to his home server, used an adapter to power it, and controlled the camera with software.

Solheim isn't finished with this project. "I am working on a video based on all the images," he said. "Nine minutes in total, the geek version. That will feature images from both day and night."

I am totally going to geek out and watch the nine minute version.

Music provided in the video by Magnus Gangstad

If you have the two minutes, I suggest that you watch this video.

COMET CLEANER EATER!!!

 MMMMM.... COMET!

When this woman started eating comet I am wondering how! Well, maybe not how, she probably puts it on a spoon or in a bowl. But how in the sense of did it spill on her doughnut and she thought - "hmmm that is some tasty powdered sugar!" Only to find it was comet? Or did it play out more like, "Those green and white granules look tasty, almost tasty enough to eat!"
Or was it the old lymric,
"♪♪Comet. It makes your teeth turn green. Comet. It tastes like gasoline. Comet. It makes you vomit. So get some Comet...and vomit...today♪♪

Comet is a hell of a drug! HAHAHA
She might be able to get use out of this coupon!
Well, I am bringing you this story for your entertainment. - Enjoy!

Dentist Helps Metro Detroit Woman Addicted to Comet Cleanser

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WJBK) - "I had eaten the household cleanser Comet for years and years and years and years," said Crystal. "It had, I guess, eroded the enamel off of my teeth, (and) then, of course, started going down to the roots."
She said she was hooked on Comet for nearly 30 years. She ate the cleanser nearly every day.
Crystal, who refrained from using her last name, attributed the strange addiction to a difficult childhood that included physical and sexual abuse.

"I thought maybe somehow I was cleaning myself out, that I felt dirty inside," Crystal said.
The Redford woman's story recently aired on The Learning Channel's "My Strange Addiction" series.

The program's producers asked Dr. Demi Kazanis of Royal Oak to evaluate the damage of eating Comet did to Crystal's teeth.
"I'd equate it to a meth mouth. Crystal had a lot of decay, a lot of infection. She was in extreme pain. She needed help," said Kazanis. "When I examined Crystal, I actually saw Comet cleanser in the remaining teeth that she had in the crevices. I knew what was going on."
Dr. Kazanis spent months working to restore and repair Crystal's teeth, providing more than $20,000 in dental work for free.
"It made me very happy. Most times people don't like to come to the dentist, and if I can make somebody happy and do something nice for somebody, I always welcome the opportunity," said Kazanis.
"I feel better physically. You have no idea what bad teeth can do to your physical health, very detrimental. I look better. I speak better," said Crystal.
She hopes telling the world her story will help others.
"If one person out there sees something in me that they have going on in themselves and they do something to stop it, the shame will be worth it," Crystal said.

Josephine says, "Check out crazy!"

Crazed Shoppers here in Texas!

Shoppers GO CRAZY in Mesquite and other Texas malls.

All this commotion over Air Jordan 11 Retro's. I know there are few things to get crazed about in the world, but shoes? Really! Shoes! Well, some shoppers did in fact get crazed over shoes. The insanity hit Mesquite, Houston, and other Texas malls. It is insane, but some people feel the rush or the need to get frantic over shoes. Don't get me wrong, I too would love a pair; however, I will wait until spring to buy a pair. They are great shoes. I may also shop for them on-line so that I don't get mauled at the mall... They retail for $175 a pair. Probably add for shipping. The shipping price I will chalk up to insurance that I don't get maced, glass shards in the face, or arrested. A small price to pay, but I will shell it out. In addition, I tried to log onto Nike's website, it appears to be overwhelmed with traffic. It times out or errors out.  A shopping tip for those who brave the malls: Don't forget your riot face shield and a gas mask.

Good luck out there.

Towne East Mall Shoppers Maced at Chaotic Air Jordan Sneaker Sale

Published : Thursday, 23 Dec 2010, 11:58 AM CST
By Kevin Boie | MYFOXDFW.COM

MESQUITE, Texas - Mesquite police early Thursday used pepper spray to control an unruly crowd of sneaker shoppers.
The incident happened at Towne East Mall, where dozens of people had lined up top buy Nike's new Air Jordan 11 Retro, which went on sale at 6 a.m.
Sisters Laurie and Lorraine Martinez, who said they had been in line since 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, described the scene as frightening and chaotic.
"Nothing like I've ever experienced before," Lorraine Martinez said. "I got pushed in a corner and we all got maced. And if it wasn't for my sister covering my face, I think my face would have ended up worse … our noses are burning."
The women said the trouble began when people in line began pushing forward.
"At 4:30 the people at the back of line decided to bum rush and run to the doors … As much as we tried to tell people to move, they wouldn't. So [police] started macing," Laurie Martinez said.
She also said some people in the crowd were able to force open a door to the shoe store and get inside, although the sisters were not able to enter.
"I still haven't gotten my Jordans," Laurie Martinez said. "I'll never do this again. It was my first time. I've never done it before but I'll never do it again."
The sisters blame the mall and the store for the melee, calling the event disorganized. They said customers should have received numbers securing their places in line.
"So that this doesn’t happen. And this store, they just let everyone bum rush and act like crazy animals. And then everybody has to pay," Lauire Martinez said.
The women said despite the trouble, the sneakers sold out in a half-hour.
A pair of Air Jordan 11 Retro sneakers retails for $175.
MORE TROUBLE IN TEXAS
The craze over the Air Jordan 11 Retro sneaker also caused problems at other Texas malls .
Throngs of people flooded Houston-area malls and shopping centers on Thursday morning, prompting police action.
Humble police said a fight broke out as some people were pushing and shoving each other to get to the front of the line at Deerbrook Mall.
Officers detained some of the customers but did not say if any arrests would be made.

Shroomed Reindeer

Mush-Roomed Reindeer.

Ever wonder why Rudolph's nose is red? Or the games they played? Or even why they "thought" they could fly? Well those crafty Reindeer think at least they could fly!
Keeping with the Christmas vibe, here is a tale for all ages. It may also explain some things. Maybe Santa is selling the stuff? The deer are just sampling their own junk. May also explain why the "Fat Man" can travel so fast. Hmmm, maybe it's not just the deer chomping on the shrooms. And look, I would not drink the Deer piss to get drunk... But according to this article some do!

Reindeer Eat Magic Mushrooms to Escape Winter Boredom, Scientist Claims

Published : Wednesday, 22 Dec 2010, 12:30 PM CST
By Rhodri Phillips
(The Sun) - It's no wonder Rudolph and his reindeer pals can fly: scientists say they have found that the animals regularly eat magic mushrooms to get high, The Sun reported Wednesday.
Scientist Andrew Haynes says reindeer deliberately seek out the mind-bending fungi to escape the monotony of dreary, long winters.
Writing in the respected Pharmaceutical Journal, Haynes said: "They have a desire to experience altered states of consciousness."
"For humans a common side-effect of mushrooms is the feeling of flying, so it's interesting the legend about Santa's reindeer is they can fly," he continued.
Haynes also said that in some parts of the world herdsmen drink reindeer urine to get high themselves.
